Council Wards/Districts
Presently all council members are elected at large meaning the entire
community elects the city council. On alternating two years, either
two council members or three council members will be elected. Do you
think citizens would be better served by a council elected according

City Manager/Administrator
Currently there is a debate about the role of the City Administrator,
specifically, whether he or she should be given more power. Although
both a City Administrator and City Manager are responsible for
day-to-day operations, all city employees and department heads report
directly to a City Manager. Some argue this removes the politics from

Personnel
Bel Aire has experienced much upheaval due to the hiring and firing of
high-level employees. Given the deep concerns citizens have expressed,
are there better ways for such decisions to be made?

Council/Mayor terms (length)
Currently each city council member serves a 4 year term. The mayor
serves for 2 years. The council terms are staggered so that not all
council members are up for re-election at the same time. Please post
your experience or knowledge regarding the mayor council terms of
